Prominent Religious Leaders Advocate for Peace and Unity at Iran Culture House, New Delhi
The Iran Culture House recently hosted an interfaith dialogue titled “Peaceful Coexistence of Followers of Different Religions and the Social Responsibility of Spiritual Leaders,” uniting prominent religious leaders and scholars from India and Iran. Chief Guest Ayatullah Sayyed Abul Hasan Nawwab, Vice Chancellor of the University of Religions and Denominations, Qum, Iran, shared insights on fostering interfaith harmony through an audiovisual presentation, underscoring India’s “unity in diversity.”
The session, presided over by Aagha Mehdi Mehdavipur, centered on peace and tolerance across faiths. Program Coordinator Zahid Hussain warmly welcomed the distinguished participants while Swami Sarang Ji, the main speaker, emphasized the importance of mutual respect, stating, “Interfaith understanding creates a foundation of trust vital to social stability.”
Other notable speakers, including Dr M.D. Thomas, Mol. Md. Shaheen Qasmi, Sardar Paramjeet Singh Chandhok, Jain Acharya Vivek Muni, Buddhist Acharya Yashi, Makrand Adkar, Parsi representative Zaiwala Ji, Father Roby Cristian, Dr. Vijay Tiwari, Dr. Ansar Ahmad Major, Lama Jangchup Choeden, Prerna Sharma, John Masku, Dr. S. Farooq, and Mol. Md. Arshad Nadvi, each highlighted unity and respect as central to their faiths.
The session was conducted for the chief guests by Mehdi Baqar Khan. Dr. F. Faridasr, Cultural Counsellor at the Embassy of Iran, expressed gratitude to the attendees and highlighted the embassy’s dedication to fostering interfaith harmony and building bridges across communities. His significant role in promoting cultural exchanges and interfaith understanding was acknowledged as a vital support for unity initiatives.
