INTERSTATE GANG OF AUTO LIFTERS BUSTED 

Team ER-III, of Crime Branch, has busted an interstate auto lifter gang operating in UP and Delhi. Eastern Range-III of Crime Branch Welcome, Delhi had received a secret information about a criminal namely Sufiyan S/o Mehboob (Gang leader of Interstate auto lifters) who is involved in a number of cases of auto theft and was also wanted in a case vide E-FIR No. 22752/2022, U/s 379/411/34 IPC, PS Welcome. In this case he is receiver of stolen motor Cycle while his other gang members had stolen the vehicle. As per input, the accused would be coming near Loha Market, Welcome on a stolen motorcycle for the purpose of committing some crime and if raid be conducted he can be nabbed and further stolen vehicles can be recovered from his possession. Subsequently, a team consisting ASI Dharmender, ASI Arvind, ASI Praveen, ASI Satish, HC Pradeep, HC Gaurav, HC Rahul and HC Surjeet was formed under the leadership of Inspector Kanwar Sain and overall supervision of ACP Vivek Tyagi. Thereafter, a trap was laid near Loha Market, Welcome, North East Delhi. Further, as per information accused Sufiyan S/o Mehboob R/o Lal Bagh, Rehta Chowk, Hasanpur, Amroha, Uttar Pradesh age 26 yrs was intercepted and overpowered by the team at the instance of informer. The Splendor Motor cycle no. DL-14-SN-9626 recovered from his possession was found stolen from PS Jafrabad, Distt. North East, Delhi. On further interrogation, he disclosed his involvement in other 05 theft cases. Furthermore, 03 other stolen motorcycles and 02 stolen scooty were recovered at his instance.

Arrested accused Sufiyan S/o Mehboob was running his inter-state gang of auto lifters since 11 months. Earlier on 18.08.2022, staff of ER-III was arrested two auto lifters namely Uvesh and Faheem, who were working for accused Sufiyan. On the direction of gang leader Sufiyan, both accused persons used to steal the bikes and scooty from Delhi/NCR and would send the stolen vehicles to Amroha (at Sufiyan’s Place) to dispose off.

The accused has admittedly received around 150 vehicles in last 11 months and recently he has disposed off around 50 vehicles in North East Distt alone. He would ask the auto lifters of his gang to steal the vehicles as per demand of second hand two wheelers and used to dispose off further with the help of other mediators. Investigation has also revealed that he would provide some ownership documents to some unsuspecting buyers against these stolen vehicles. Further investigation on this count is still on. Around 15 vehicles have been recovered so far from this gang.

Earlier on 25.08.2022, staff of PS Welcome arrested two gang members of accused Sufiyan namely (1) Faizu S/o Aasif R/o 1041, gali no. 10, Zafrabad, Delhi age 23 yrs and (2) Wasim S/o Shubhan R/o 1075, gali no. 10, Zafrabad, Delhi age 23 yrs. They both disclosed they are gang members of accused Sufiyan and at his instance they had stolen these vehicles. Further investigation on this count is on and there is all possibility that many more vehicles would be recovered after the arrest of some more gang members. As of now accused Sufiyan as well as his four other associates are running in judicial custody.
